There has been a whiff of craziness in the air for the last couple of weeks. Something is going on and I think I have found the answer.
Actually I have found the answer to two things. The first thing doesn’t actually bother me that much. I have what Mel the vet describes as a sensitive respiratory system, yeah bet you didn’t think a dogs vocabulary stretched that far! It is basically as a result of me having kennel cough, something I would like to point out that is basically just a cold for us dogs and is only called kennel cough because kennels are the main places where lots of us can be found together and hence can spread around quickly. There are categorically no magic viruses that live specifically in kennels that give you kennel cough! Anyway, I have to go to Kenilworth next week to the special animal hospital where they will stick something down my throat to figure out what is going on as I have this thing where I kind of reverse sneeze from time to time. So, that’s the first thing. A rod down your throat may not sound like fun but I can swallow sausages without them touching my inner throat lining so I’ll be fine with the rod. The second thing is rather more intriguing. I am 90% positive that there will be some kind of puppy coming to stay for a bit after Christmas. Mum keeps on talking to Nat about this dog in Poland that Nat’s mum and dad are ‘keeping for her.’ Mum is going to Poland for a few days in the New Year. I think Mum is bringing this dog back home. I don’t like puppies. Why? They come pestering me when I try to....what’s the word? Yeah, live. This leaves very little time in between to get any kind of rest or attention. What happens if Dad likes this thing and decides to get rid of me? I’ll be homeless, again! I have worked hard to get where I am today. I was only supposed to be in foster care with Mum and Dad while they found another home for me. Mum didn’t even want to keep me, how cheeky is that! So I targeted Dad as he is basically softer and easier to manipulate. It worked! He kept me and over time I convinced Mum it was a good idea to keep me too. Now I part own a business with Ellie and that’s all in less than three years, the Dragons have got nothing on me. Again I have got Dad to write the last bit. I don’t want to add anymore encouragement to this puppy farce. From January 1st 2012, the current quarantine period when bringing in pets into the UK from abroad will be removed provided the pet is over 3 months old and has been vaccinated and micro chipped at least 21 days before the date of arrival in the UK. This means that you no longer have to put your pet in quarantine for 6 months when coming back home from abroad, provided they have met the requirements, thus making it easier and cheaper to travel with your pet. Oscar is right. We will be adopting a puppy when we visit Poland and bringing it back home without the need for quarantine due to the new EU laws. I won’t be getting rid of Oscar just yet though! There is certain criteria that you have to fulfil so please make sure that you read all official documentation thoroughly and also consult your vet. You can find more detailed information on the Defra website. That’s it from us this year. Oscar will have another blog for you in mid January if his brain doesn’t fry too much with his new brother around! Have a Happy Christmas and New Year! |
